Weil recognised for advising on Private Equity and High Yield Deals of the Year at the IFLR European Awards 2020

The Firm has won two awards at the IFLR European awards for advising on some of the most complex and innovative transactions in Europe last year.

Weil was highlighted for its role acting on the Inmarsat take private which was awarded Private Equity Deal of the Year. The Firm advised Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board as a consortium member (together with Apax Partners, Warburg Pincus and Canada Pension Plan Investment Board) in the consortium’s £4.1 billion take private of Inmarsat plc, the UK satellite company. This was one of the largest UK take-privates of 2019. The team was led by Private Equity partner Simon Lyell, supported by Ian Hamilton and Neil Rigby in London, and Ted Posner in Washington, D.C.

Weil was also recognised for its role on the High Yield Deal of the Year, advising Bain Capital on the €1.5 billion senior secured and senior notes to finance its acquisition of Kantar from WPP plc. The High Yield element of the transaction was led by Patrick Bright, Chris Wall and Sandra Fadel. The wider Private Equity and Banking aspects were advised on by Marco Compagnoni, Tom Richards, Lewis Blakey, Martin Weatherston-Wilson, Adam Faulkner, Nicholas Krendel, Edward Hyde and Abgail Kalonga.

The IFLR European 2020 Awards recognise legal innovation in cross-border transactions across Europe which completed in 2019.
