Banking & Finance partner Tom Richards has been named among The Lawyer’s Hot 100 for 2021, a list of the most accomplished and impactful attorneys in the U.K. 

The publication noted Mr. Richards’ record of success advising private equity sponsors and their portfolio companies on their most sophisticated financing transactions. He is at the very forefront of the field and his leadership is noted as one of the reasons “Weil’s sponsor-side finance practice is deemed to be one of the most impressive in the market,” The Lawyer reported.

The profile highlighted Mr. Richards’ work advising Advent International on the financing of its £4 billion take-private of Cobham plc and his subsequent advice to Cobham on its $965 million sale of its Aerospace Connectivity division to TransDigm Group Incorporated. It also noted his role advising CVC Capital Partners on the financing of its acquisition of RiverStone Europe from Fairfax Financial Holdings, as well as his work for other leading sponsors including Bain Capital and Novalpina Capital.

“Weil’s London team has undoubtedly forged a name for itself on high-end private equity M&A, but Mr. Richards’ finance expertise has become an indispensable part of the office’s arsenal,” The Lawyer reported.
