Weil’s Private Equity practice was recently profiled by Law360 in a follow-up to its recent Practice Group of the Year award for 2014. Weil advises more than 200 private equity clients worldwide, including more than 80% of the world’s top 25 funds, as ranked by PEI 300, 2014. Indeed, Weil handled more than 130 deals involving private equity firms or their portfolio companies in the last year alone.
Weil worked on a significant volume of deals for longstanding clients including five major deals for Advent International, four deals for Thomas H. Lee Partners, five deals for Genstar Capital, four deals for American Securities, four deals for CCMP Capital Advisors and many others.
Weil also handled complex cross-border transactions including Centerbridge Partners’ acquisition of Germany-based Senvion SE from India’s Suzlon Group for €1 billion and Providence Equity Partners, CCMP Capital Advisors, and Quadrangle Group’s sale of Grupo Corporativo Ono SA in Spain to Vodafone Group. Douglas Warner, co-head of Weil’s global Private Equity practice, noted “It was a good year for deals due to macroeconomic conditions,” but also attributed the Firm’s success “to having an elite global practice that offers a one-stop shop across the globe.”
Weil’s Private Equity practice includes 70 partners and over 200 lawyers across its 20 global offices.
